Challenge
Designing merchandise for the Svengoolie brand meant creating fresh designs that long-time fans would still want to collect. The challenge was to keep each piece true to the show’s distinct personality while introducing new art, products, and materials.
I developed artwork for apparel, collectibles, and seasonal items, and collaborated with external illustrators — adapting their work across formats while maintaining brand consistency and quality.
Approach
My process begins with research — reviewing recent show episodes and visiting the set to capture tone and inspiration directly from the source. I also study comparable brands with similar audiences to understand current trends and opportunities.
From there, I evaluate what’s worked well in previous collections and identify ways to evolve the visual direction. Throughout the process, I collaborate closely with the merchandise team and manufacturers to align creative ideas with materials, production methods, and pricing.
Outcome
Through ongoing experimentation, we’ve identified what truly resonates with the audience — from collectible lawn inflatables and
bobbleheads to patterned apparel that reflects the show’s humor and personality.
While some designs perform better than others, consistent best-sellers like the glow-in-the-dark logo shirt help anchor the line. Our growing
insight into fan preferences now informs not only product design but also how we market across newsletters, social channels, on-air promos, and the website.
