Challenge

Svengoolie has a deeply loyal, long-standing audience. The brand wants to expand and reach to a new, younger demographic. As the prgram introduced new characters, the challenge became to thoughtfully incorporate them across digital, merchandise, graphics, and promotional touchpoints—without alienating the existing fan base.


The goal is to strengthen the core Svengoolie audience while using new characters and creative properties to spark interest with younger viewers, ensuring the brand could grow while remaining unmistakably Svengoolie.

Approach

  • Balance accessibility and engagement by maintaining a website and blog experience that remains welcoming and readable for the older audience while supporting more dynamic visual content.
  • Designed a flexible newsletter template enabling writers to deliver weekly and monthly updates that reinforce brand voice and consistency.
  • Manage and maintain a branded e-commerce storefront supporting ongoing merchandise drops and promotions.
  • Lead the creative direction and execution of custom merchandise, including trading cards, inflatable lawn ornaments, apparel, drinkware, and limited-edition items.
  • Collaborate with external illustrators through The Artist Collection program, applying approved artwork across multiple product types and materials; also designed the program’s logo and visual identity.
  • Oversee all visual output for the brand, including print assets, merchandise artwork, promotional graphics, social media content, show imagery, blog visuals, and store advertising—ensuring cohesive brand expression across every digital and physical touchpoint

    Outcome

    The result is a cohesive, scalable creative system that supports Svengoolie’s evolving brand—strengthening engagement with longtime fans while introducing new visual elements that appeal to younger audiences. The expanded character universe and merchandise ecosystem allow the brand to grow across platforms while maintaining its distinctive personality and cultural legacy.
